MPS’s terra cotta facade restoration work on the Jefferson Standard Building in Greensboro, North Carolina, was recently recognized by Preservation Greensboro. Located in the middle of Greensboro’s historic downtown district, the high-rise tower is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
MPS led the pilot phase of the Jefferson Standard Building project to prove the efficacy of the repairs, and continued on with a multi-year terra cotta preservation project. This multi-phase project was prioritized using a prudent design/restore team approach with the owner (Lincoln Financial Group), restoration engineer (Sutton Kennerly and Associates), and preservation contractor (MPS).
The Jefferson Standard Building, recognized by Preservation Greensboro as one of Greensboro’s Most Treasured Valued Treasures, was constructed in the early 1920s as corporate headquarters for Greensboro Jefferson Standard Life Insurance.
