Every summer, MPS completes restoration work at some of Pennsylvania’s highest-rated colleges, and this summer was no exception. MPS is happy to report that all of our 2010 summer college projects came in under budget and more importantly, ahead of schedule.

Church evaluation reveals damage caused by changes to exterior
MPS recently completed an evaluation of a stone bell tower at a church in Eastern Pennsylvania. The bell tower had suffered significant damage caused by ongoing moisture infiltration which occurred over a period of decades. Historic MPS project to receive award
The Swetland, Fleck & Darte Hall project at Wyoming Seminary Preparatory School, which included extensive work by MPS, has been selected to receive the 2010 Pride of Place Award. MPS to receive 2010 Historic Preservation Award
The Luzerne County Historical Society will present its Preservationist’s Award of Merit to MPS CEO Jeff Erdly on April 23, 2010. Ribbon cut for Osterhout Library preservation
The mayor of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and other dignitaries recently cut the ribbon on the long-anticipated masonry and stained glass restoration of Osterhout Library, a historic 1849 church turned library. MPS successfully completed the project on budget; its preservation helps enhance the city’s historic district.
Valentino to speak at SWR Institute’s Fall Technical Meeting
MPS Vice President Erik Valentino is scheduled to present at the Sealant Waterproofing and Restoration Institute’s Fall Technical Meeting in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, on October 20, 2009. His presentation is focused on a completed masonry restoration project and is titled “Preserving the Big House—Restoration of the Historic Central Tower at Lewisburg Federal Penitentiary.”
International Masonry Institute (IMI) presents Restoration Forum
MPS is proud to be part of the IMI Restoration Forum scheduled for August 25, 2009, at the John J. Flynn International Training Center in Bowie, Maryland. Program topics include various restoration talks and hands-on demonstrations, as well as a tour of the state-of-the-art training facility. The IMI website contains valuable resources.
